The Office of Health Access and Community Enrichment builds trust.

We build a culture of inclusion within our workforce, then extend it outward bringing services, education, and outreach directly to our communities. It's reciprocal: an engaged workforce fuels authentic, lasting community impact.
Rooted in Purpose

To transform cancer and diabetes care through inclusive systems and equitable access that eliminate health disparities. To achieve City of Hope's mission of making hope a reality for all touched by cancer and diabetes, we must advance inclusion by building a workforce that trusts and reflects the communities we serve — extending that trust through equitable care, research, and operations for every patient and family who turns to us.

Part of a National Leader in Cancer Care

City of Hope is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, recognized among the nation's top hospitals for cancer care for more than a decade. It's one of only a select group of institutions in the country to hold that distinction.

That reputation is built on three things working together: patient-focused care that treats the whole person, forward-focused research that moves discoveries from the lab to the patient without delay, and hope-inspired learning that trains the next generation of clinicians and scientists. Having researchers, treatment teams, and manufacturing facilities side by side is part of what sets City of Hope apart.

HACE brings that same commitment into the neighborhoods City of Hope serves — building a workforce that reflects and earns community trust, while extending care, education, and resources beyond our hospital walls to every neighborhood.

A Letter from our Executive Director

When I think about why HACE exists, I think about the neighborhoods where trust in medicine had to be earned, not assumed — and the people who kept showing up anyway, asking us to do better.

That's the work: building a culture of inclusion that drives progress, reduces disparities, and strengthens community impact. Culture of Inclusion, Community Benefit, and Health Access & Impact aren't three separate efforts — they're one commitment, viewed from three directions. The power to change outcomes has never belonged to institutions alone; it belongs to the communities who trust us with their time and their stories.

I'm grateful to everyone who has been part of this work. There's more to do, and I'm glad you're here for it.
